New Living Room

In anticipation of Thansgiving and having a bunch of family over, Scott and I were hoping to find an affordable couch set or sectional in order to accomodate everyone. If you've been to our house (and most who read this have) you know that we only had 1love seat and a recliner in the living room. The love seat could seat 3 people if said people felt like getting all cozy, lol, and of course the recliner could only seat 1. Everyone else ended up on the floor or on dining room chairs or fold-up lawn chairs. Ugh. So this past weekend Scott got on a "let's find a couch" craze and we searched Craigslist and multiple furniture websites and went to Terri's Consign and Design in Mesa to scout out options.

Terri's had a sectional that would do, but wasn't our favorite and wasn't exactly budget friendly. Craigslist had an awesome looking sectional for only $500 that had been listed only 3 hours, but when we called they had just sold it. Saturday night we went to dinner at Red Lobster. As we were sitting with our little silent buzzer, waiting to be seated, Scott was browsing Craigslist again (on his Blackberry) and found another sectional that looked good. We called, left Red Lobster, and went to see the couch. It was the wrong shape for our room (couldn't tell this by the picture), and didn't look that great anyway. On the way back to Red Lobster, I found yet another sectional on Craigslist that looked *awesome*. It had just been listed that evening, but there was no phone number. So using my Blackberry, I responded to the Craigslist add via email and told Scott "well, if it's meant to be ours we'll hear back. But with something that nice it's probably already gone...that one earlier today was sold in just hours!!"

Less than an hour later, in the middle of dinner, I get a call from the lady with the couch. We could see it the next morning at 11:30 (Sunday). Woohoo!!

Saw the couch, paid for the couch, called my dad and asked for help transporting the couch, borrowed my grandpa's trailer and my dad's van and brought the couch home. We are in love with it...it's a tan, microsuede fabric sectional with a matching ottoman, and it looks brand new (it's 3 years old). We only paid $400 for it. We've looked at similar couches new online for well over $1000. The lady said she had listed it on Craigslist awhile back for $800, then $700, and no one was interested. Now she just wanted to get it out of her garage (she had just moved) and so listed it for $400 hoping to just get rid of it! We are SO thankful for having found this! And I think it's funny that we wouldn't have found it, replied, gotten the call and set up the viewing appt without our Blackberries...never thought having internet and email on my phone would be so beneficial, lol! :-D

Here are the photos!! It fits in our living room *perfectly* and is SOOOO soft and comfy. And being inspired by the new living room, we finally put some photos up in the living room too. :-) (The old love seat is now in the family room under the big picture window, and the recliner is in the guest room.)

From the hallway:

From the front door:

Pictures my Grandma painted. The one on the left is the original design she painted specifically for our wedding invitations and programs. :-)

We're saving up for a nice entertainment center/wall unit to finish the living room.

Ta-da! Now doesn't everyone want to come over and test out the new seating? It's super comfy!!!

Let The Waters Rise

Yes, I'm posting yet another song. Love these lyrics too. Unfortunately this song is not on playlist.com yet so I can't add it to my blog playlist, but I can post the link! Actually, I have FINALLY learned how to embed a youtube video onto my blog. It's amazingly simple. Just right click on the video and select "copy embed html". Duh. Why didn't I try right clicking sooner?? Silly me. So here it is: Let The Waters Rise by Mikeschair. (weird group name!!)

Let The Waters Rise lyrics

Don't know where to begin
Its like my world's caving in
And I try but I can't control my fear
Where do I go from here?

Sometimes its so hard to pray
When You feel so far away
But I am willing to go
Where you want me to
God, I trust You

There's a raging sea
Right in front of me
Wants to pull me in
Bring me to my knees
So let the waters rise
If You want them to
I will follow You
I will follow You
I will follow You

I will swim in the deep
'Cuz You'll be next to me
You're in the eye of the storm
And the calm of the sea
You'll never out of reach

God, You know where I've been
You were there with me then
You were faithful before
You'll be faithful again
I'm holding Your hand

There's a raging sea
Right in front of me
Wants to pull me in
Bring me to my knees
So let the waters rise
If You want them to
I will follow You
I will follow You
I will follow You

God Your love is enough
You will pull me through
I'm holding onto You
God Your love is enough
I will follow You
I will follow You

Ohhh

There's a raging sea
Right in front of me
Wants to pull me in
Bring me to my knees
So let the waters rise
If You want them to
I will follow You
I will follow You
I will follow You

Ohhh
